Our Story

How the Critters Found Us

We started this project at Allison’s kitchen table, back when we barely knew each other. Kristen had grown up with Allison’s husband, but we were practically strangers. What we didn’t know then was that this quirky little idea would become the foundation of a friendship—and eventually, a family bond.

At first, we thought we could maybe manage the Major Arcana. A whole deck felt impossible. Maybe even ridiculous. But the moment we jumped in, the ideas came alive. We worked in creative leaps, bouncing sketches, symbolism, and stories back and forth until we realized we weren’t just making cards—we were building a universe.

All Illustrations were hand-drawn and rendered digitally by artist, Allison Beilke.

We created

together everywhere

At home.
On voice notes.
During late-night sketch messages.


Once, we designed the Temperance card while Kristen drove across states—pulling off the highway at rest stops to look at Allison’s latest mockup, offer edits, then keep driving. With every mile, the card evolved. It was exhilarating.

And slowly, a world took shape.
A world with justice.
A world with love.
A cozy, whimsical ecosystem of critters just trying their best—just like us.

Allison had just started reading about the Rider Waite tarot deck, but through deep conversations about each archetype, the cards trained her hand and opened her intuition. Kristen, a lifelong tarot lover and teacher, found her skills growing too—clarifying symbols, crafting meaning, and learning to translate big ideas into images and stories.

Most “cute” decks out there are either religious angel cards or kawaii-style manga decks—and very few are crafted by people with a deep understanding of tarot symbolism.

We wanted something different:

  • Bright

  • Whimsical

  • Symbolically Accurate

  • Non-Religious

  • and Welcoming to every kind of reader

Something that didn’t exist yet.

The Magic of this Deck

isn’t just the artwork or the symbolism—it’s the journey. It’s how we grew through it. How we found joy in it. How we built a world to retreat into during the turbulent post-pandemic years, a small universe where wonder lived and love always won.

    Artist, dreamer, and lover of all things magical, Allison weaves astrology, feng shui, and seasonal celebrations into her enchanting life on the North Shore of Massachusetts. Fueled by fiery Sagittarius energy, she shares her cozy world with a loving husband, two pups, and her regal cat, Dr. Katz. By day, she works as an interior design consultant.
